If you took part in the Diablo 4 open beta and were wondering how you were going to make it through May without some sweet demon-slaying action, there’s some good news. A ‘Server Slam’ event has been announced, allowing players to go hands-on with Diablo 4 one more time before it launches this June.
Taking place between 12th-14th May, the Diablo 4 ‘Server Slam’ event aims to put the game’s servers though their paces in order to make its June launch a little smoother. For the most part it’ll be the same as the open beta, with players given access to the game’s first zone, the Fractured Peaks, and allowing them to progress through the prologue and first act of the story. There are things that will be a little bit different here, however.
For one, all of the changes implemented based on the feedback from the open beta will be in place. That means that Barbarians should be a little more sturdy thanks to their flat 10% damage reduction, and dungeons shouldn’t require you to backtrack as much. The Legendary Item drop rate has also been altered to reflect what it will be like when the game launches. Basically, then, it should give players a good idea of what the launch experience will be like.
All character classes will be available, and players will be able to develop them up to level 20. After that, they’ll still be able to explore the Fractured Peaks, but won’t be able to gain any more skill points. Unfortunately, progress won’t be brought across from the open beta, so players will have to start again from scratch. Progress from this server test won’t be carried over to the full game, either.
Those who do jump into Diablo 4‘s ‘Server Slam’ will once again be able to earn the Beta Wolf Pack cosmetic item by simply reaching level 20. Another reward is up for grabs, too: anyone who reaches level 20 and manages to beat Ashava, the world boss, will earn the Cry of Ashava mount trophy. So, if you’re keen to play Diablo 4 once more before launch and have nothing to do between 12th-14th May, make a note in your diary.
The Diablo 4 ‘Server Slam’ will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC, and it will kick off at 12PM PDT on 12th May and run until 12PM PDT on 14th May.
