How to Change Difficulty in Diablo Immortal

Diablo Immortal

If you’re finding enemies too easy to defeat and want more of a challenge in Diablo Immortal you might be wanting to change the difficulty.

Let’s start with the bad news first. You can’t change difficulty in Diablo Immortal until you reach level 60. Once you’ve reached level 60 – the current level cap – you can then raise the difficulty level of the game whenever you’re in Westmarch.

This isn’t unusual. If you’ve played a Diablo game before, you’ll be used to having to work through the story and max out a character before all difficulty levels become available to you. It’s for your own benefit too: it means you’ll be adequately matched to enemies that you face. Until you’ve reached the highest level and got high level loot, you won’t be able to survive against Diablo Immortal‘s monsters.

Once you’re level 60, visit Westmarch. You can fast travel there by selecting your map, navigating to the World Map, and choosing a teleport spot in Westmarch. Once you’re there, hit the map again. You’ll see a difficulty setting in the top-right of your window. Clicking this will let you raise the difficulty level.

By default, Diablo Immortal‘s difficulty is set to ‘normal’. Higher levels are Hell 1 to Hell 4. You can’t simply jump straight into Hell 4, however. You need to be the right Paragon Level – a new experience meter that you’ll gain once you’ve reached Level 60. Here’s each level, and its requirements:

  • Normal: accessible from level 1
  • Hell 1: accessible from Paragon Level 1
  • Hell 2: accessible from Paragon Level 30
  • Hell 3: Accessible from Paragon Level 90
  • Hell 4: Accessible from Paragon Level 160

It’s possible that Blizzard will add in more Hell levels as Diablo Immortal grows over time. It’s also important to move up levels as soon as you can. Enemies may get tougher, but you’ll also earn more experience and rewards. Stay on a difficulty level that’s too low for your character and you’ll miss out on the good stuff.
